The CBHSSJB is honored to be among the highest-scoring submissions for the Journées de l’Architecture en Santé du Québec’s program. Chairperson Bertie Wapachee and the consortium of architects had the honor of presenting the future Regional Hospital to 300 participants on June 12th, for which the CBHSSJB Board members were present, to deliver a presentation that was both technical and cultural. Mr. Bertie Wapachee, community members and staff members worked extensively in collaboration with architects Jean-François Gagnon, Pascale Tetreault and Julie Boucher on the conceptualization of the new facility and provided key insights throughout the entire process.

This summer, between June 23 and September 2, pharmacies will be on reduced personnel and a temporary schedule will be in place to accommodate communities, while considering limited resources.

On May 24, 2024, a special project called Uskâu Ihtûwin started in Waswanipi. It’s part of Quebec's "Aire Ouverte" program. This is the first time this program is in an Indigenous area. It helps young people aged 8 to 35 with mental health and wellness. 

Cree values and traditions were envisaged as key to the development of health and social services delivery systems in section 14 of the 1975 James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA), which was the basis for the creation of the Cree Health Board

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Moar, a devoted manager of the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). Over more than two decades, Alan managed frontline health and social services at both local and regional levels, leaving a lasting mark on the communities he served.
