MISTISSINI ELDER’S HOME
What is it?
The Elders’ Home is a a 16-bed assisted living and nursing home. The residence welcomes everyone from Eeyou Istchee. The Elders’ Home facility accommodates those who are not able to perform certain daily activities anymore, despite the support of their families and home care services.
A team of dedicated professionals is committed to provide high quality of care and services. Additionally, residents can engage with one another through cultural activities based on the Cree way of life.
Who is it for?
This Home is for Elders and other individuals with loss of autonomy who will benefit from a living environment where they receive support in caring for themselves and living their lives to the fullest.
Where is it offered?
Ensures equity in requests (wait time). The Mistissini Elder’s Home is at 8 Cheno Street.
What is the admission process like?
Everyone requesting admission will have a designated case manager who will handle the admission process.
What are the services provided?
- Regular medical care and prescription medication
- Around the clock nursing
- Assistance with routine tasks (bathing, dressing, taking meals, etc.)
- Nutrition counselling/support
- Occupational therapy
- Physiotherapy
- Social services
- Cultural and traditional activities, leisure and games
- Laundry and housekeeping
- 24/7 security
Our facility also provides:
- Nutritious meals and snacks
- Personal hygiene supplies (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.)
- TV in the living room
- Shared iPad for residents
- Shared telephone for residents
How can I get this service?
You can request a placement in the Mistissini Elders’ Home through the social services of your local CMC.
What to bring and what is provided
- Medicare card, hospital cards (if applicable)
- Clothing and outerwear for 4 seasons
- Electric razor (if applicable)
- Bring your own favorite items: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, cream, perfume, deodorant, perfume, nail polish, makeup…
- Quilt
- Wall decorations
- Family pictures
- Radio
- Music (CDs, CD player, MP3 player…)

Visits from family and friends
You will be able to visit your loved one according to the directives in place.
