Healthy Eeyou Youth (H.E.Y.) Program

What is it?

The Healthy Eeyou Youth (HEY) initiative aims to improve clear access to mental health & clinical preventative health care by planning Cree youth-friendly health services to complement Uschiniichisuu CMC departments. 

Who is it for?

HEY will be directed primarily toward Cree youth, adolescents and young adults (10-29 years old). 

Where is it offered?

HEY initiatives will be delivered wherever Cree youth, adolescents and young people are. H.E.Y.  will strive to link relevant youth cultural activities, projects and organizations (e.g. CNYC, CSB, Band councils, Justice dept. etc,)  

Why H.E.Y.?

HEY aims to  

  • Ensure accessible services, in terms of locations and hours of availability 

  • Ensure youth-friendly approaches and policies, including safe spaces and confidentiality 

  • Reach out to vulnerable youth 

  • Integrate the Cree way of life and traditional healing into health services for youth 

  • Find creative ways to promote and enhance youth-friendly health services, such as using social media and advertising, and ensuring community visibility.
