Working while pregnant can look very different from one person to the next. Maybe changes were made to your work to help keep you safe. Maybe you participated in the For a Safe Maternity Experience Program (SMEP).
Maybe you did not.
Whatever your experience was, we want to hear about it
An evaluation of the Safe Maternity Experience Program (SMEP) is taking place this fall, and people across Eeyou Istchee are being invited to share their experiences.
SMEP is provincial program that helps pregnant workers continue working in conditions that are safe for them and their pregnancy. Now, the evaluation team wants to hear directly from the people who were employed while pregnant.
If you were pregnant and employed in Eeyou Istchee between August 1 , 2025 and July 31, 2026 you may be able to participate — even if you never used SMEP.
Employers who had a pregnant worker during the same period are also invited to participate.
Hearing different experiences will help the evaluation team understand what is working, where there may be gaps, and what could make the program better for pregnant workers in Eeyou Istchee.
Come share your experience
Participation is simple: one conversation about your experience.
Interviews will take place throughout October and November 2026. The team will be travelling to communities across Eeyou Istchee, so you can meet in person in your community or speak with them over the phone.
There are no right or wrong experiences to share. What matters is hearing what pregnancy and work looked like for you.
Your experience could help someone in the future
The experiences shared during these interviews will help identify ways to improve the For a Safe Maternity Experience Program and better support pregnant workers in the years ahead.
