The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Elaine MacLeod as Director of Corporate Services, effective Sept. 8, 2026.
In this role, Elaine will support the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance, responsible stewardship of resources, and sound oversight of the Board's financial, risk and compliance responsibilities.
Elaine succeeds Laura Moses. The CBHSSJB extend out sincere gratitude to Laura for her years of dedicated service and for the leadership she provided in guiding our corporate functions.
Elaine brings over two decades of experience serving Indigenous governments and organizations. She is recognized for her ability to translate governance priorities into practice: building clear financial processes, upholding transparency and accountability, and strengthening systems for quality and compliance. Most recently, she served as Assistant Chief Financial Officer with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe where she supported elected leadership in managing complex budgets and ensuring responsible management of public resources.
As a member of the Cree Nation of Mistissini with service on boards and committees throughout Eeyou Istchee, Elaine has a deep understanding of Cree governance and of the responsibilities outlined in the James Bay and Norther Quebec Agreement.
Her leadership is guided by a commitment to community-centered decision-making. This will inform how she supports the Board in meeting its obligations and advancing the long-term strategic direction of the CBHSSHB.
The CBHSSJB welcomes Elaine to the team and looks forward to working with her.
