Update on case investigation at Mistissini Youth Healing Centre

MONDAY DEC 13 UPDATE - After a first round of testing over the weekend, no additional infections have been identified. Some people already isolating will also be tested a second time in the coming days. Community activities in Mistissini can continue as normal.

The department of Public Health is continuing its investigation following the identification of a positive case of COVID-19 related to the Youth Healing Centre in Mistissini.

Contacts of the infectious individual have been reached and are isolating as required (based on their exposure level to the person), and the overall situation is well controlled.

  • After a first round of testing over the weekend, no additional infections have been identified. Some people already isolating will also be tested a second time in the coming days.
  • Community activities in Mistissini can continue as normal.

Public Health is grateful for the robust response of staff at the Youth Healing Center and for the collaboration of all the people affected directly by the investigation.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Quebec and Canada, vaccination is still the strongest layer of protection available, including for children.  

Booster vaccines are now available for adults 18 years and older who received their second dose more than 6 months ago.  Contact your CMC to make an appointment.

In addition to being vaccinated, please be cautious around others.

  • Stay home and arrange a test if you are feeling sick 

  • Wear a mask when required 

  • Practice physical distancing from people who don’t live with you 

  • Wash your hands 

  • Get tested when needed
