People who were tested over the weekend will be tested again shortly. Public Health expects this round of tests to result in some additional cases of secondary transmission among the original contact group.

Contacts involved in the investigation have been in isolation since last week, so the new case should not require tracing new contacts.

While the situation is evolving, Public Health would like to reassure the population that we are taking all precautions to protect the community and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Public Health is grateful for the robust response of staff at the Youth Healing Center and for the collaboration of all the people affected directly by the investigation.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Quebec and Canada, vaccination is still the strongest layer of protection available, including for children.

Booster vaccines are now available for adults 18 years and older who received their second dose more than 6 months ago.  Contact your CMC to make an appointment.

In addition to being vaccinated, please be cautious around others.
