Safe, Comfortable, Independent Homes: Adapted living available in Waskaganish

Eight adapted two-bedroom housing units are now available in Waskaganish for community members living with disabilities or mobility challenges. The Band Office has designated these homes to help ensure that residents with special needs have access to safe, accessible, and comfortable housing. These units are intended for individuals who may benefit from a barrier-free home environment, whether they are children, adults, or Elders.
WHO COULD BENEFIT?
You may be eligible if you:

Have a developmental or functional disability

Experience challenges with mobility or daily activities
-
Need an accessible and barrier-free living space
-
Would benefit from living independently or with caregiver support

Live in Waskaganish as a child, adult, or Elder
KNOW SOMEONE WHO MAY NEED THIS HOUSING?
We are asking community members, families, caregivers, and service providers to help spread the word. If you know someone who could benefit from one of these adapted housing units, we encourage you to submit a referral.
ASSESSMENT PROCESS
An Occupational Therapist will meet with applicants to assess their housing needs and determine eligibility for the adapted units.
