This holiday season, from December 23 to January 3, pharmacies will operate with reduced staff, and a temporary schedule will be in place to accommodate the needs of communities, while taking limited resources into account.
Oumar Imadine, Coordinator of Health Surveillance and Evaluation
The Assistant Director in Surveillance, Evaluation, Research and Health Protection is pleased to welcome Oumar Imadine as Coordinator of Health Surveillance and Evaluation.
Oumar is a dedicated health professional with extensive experience in health surveillance, planning and programming, management, and clinical care. His comprehensive background, ranging from hands-on physical therapy to leading large-scale public health initiatives, equips him with a unique blend of technical expertise, cultural awareness, and leadership skills.
He joined the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay in April 2020 as a Planning, Programming, and Research Officer, where he was responsible for assessing and monitoring the health and wellbeing of the population. His rigor, dedication, and organizational skills led him to assume additional responsibilities such as managing team activities, promoting cultural safety in projects, and contributing to both strategic and tactical planning.
Oumar holds a Master's degree in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology and Global Health from the Université de Montréal. He has also earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the same university.
Before joining the CBH, Oumar worked as a physical therapist, a role that sharpened his problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Treating individuals in diverse settings helped him develop a compassionate, patient-centered approach, qualities he continues to apply as a coordinator.
Following his time as a physiotherapist, Oumar developed a community-based intervention in Benin to improve early malaria case management and prevent malaria in pregnant women. This initiative was developed in collaboration with local partners and was designed to support marginalized and underserved populations. It demonstrated his commitment to improving health outcomes for vulnerable groups through partnership and collaboration.
Oumar assumed his position on August 26.
