It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Julie Darla Salt, a dedicated and compassionate health care professional, on the weekend of September 7-8, 2024.
Julie was a recently graduated auxiliary nurse from Ontario, in the process of obtaining her equivalency with the OIIQ to practice in Quebec. In the meantime, she served as a beneficiary attendant at the Chisasibi hospital, where she was highly appreciated by her team.
Julie’s career in health care was marked by her dedication and commitment to her patients. She completed her Practical Nursing Diploma at Canadore College in North Bay, ON, in June 2023. During her time as a Practical Nursing Consolidation Student at Cassellholme Home for the Aged, she excelled in patient assessment and care plans, medication administration, and a holistic approach to care and services.
In addition to her nursing studies, Julie served as a Midwife Assistant at the Midwifery Services Community Miyupimaatisiiun Centre (CMC) in Chisasibi. There, she prepared birthing spaces, assisted midwives with patient consultations, and participated in post-birth follow-up appointments. Her experience as a Beneficiary Attendant at both the hospital and the CMC in Chisasibi further showcased her dedication to patient care.
Julie was known for her caring, patient, and compassionate nature, especially in the field of elderly nursing. Her excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and well-organized approach made her an invaluable member of her team.
Julie’s passing has deeply shocked and saddened her colleagues, friends, and the community of Chisasibi. Her team at the hospital, where she worked while awaiting her nursing equivalency, is particularly affected by this loss. Julie’s dedication to her patients and her compassionate nature will be remembered by all who knew her.
