Joey Saganash, Assistant Director - Public Health Promotion & Prevention
The Director of Public Health is pleased to welcome Joey Saganash as Assistant Director - Public Health Promotion and Prevention.
Joey is a Cree from the Cree Nation of Waswanipi. He has been serving in this position on an interim basis since March 2024. His many years of experience working in and outside of communities has provided him with valuable knowledge in public health and social work.
Over the past twelve years, his frontline experience with communities has allowed him to deepen his understanding of public health services with assessments of individual and population needs of youth. This adds to his already extensive knowledge of the services and promotion-prevention programs that are effective and best practices needed in our communities. Previously, he served as the Public Health Advisor for Uschiniichisuu Uskâu Ihtûwin.
He began his position on February 17.
