Icoquih Badillo-Amberg, Advisor – Public Health Management

The Director of Public Health is pleased to welcome Icoquih Badillo-Amberg as the Advisor of Public Health Management. 

Content

Icoquih is an evidence-based Advisor with over nine years of public health experience. She has been the Interim Public Health Advisor since 2022. She is responsible for ensuring the implementation of evidence-based approaches in public health focusing on addressing health determinants. 

Her responsibilities include supporting the Director and Public Health managers in developing, coordinating, and aligning public health strategies to ensure that the department achieves its goals. This includes working closely with many internal and external partners in communities and elsewhere, and sitting on several provincial forums.

Icoquih joined the Cree Board of Health as a Planning, Programming and Research Officer in August 2019. In this role, she was responsible for monitoring and evaluation of programs, including an evaluation of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment process and an evaluation of the 2016-2021 Public Health Regional Action Plan.

Icoquih holds a Master of Science in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology and Global Health from McGill University. She has also completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology with minors in Behavioral Science and Biology from the same university.

Her hard work has led her to receive numerous awards such as: - Queen Elizabeth Scholarship - McGill IHSP, QC June 2018 and Global Health Graduate Award - McGill Faculty of Medicine, QC.

In addition, Icoquih has co-authored a number of publications on public health policy and stakeholder engagement. 

She is eager to bring her experience and expertise to support the Public health team and continue her work with the CBHSSJB. 

Icoquih assumed her position on September 23rd.
