Guided by Nitutâmh: Discover the 2025-2026 Annual Report

The Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay is proud to share its 2025-2026 Annual Report. It reflects a year guided by the powerful and grounding principle of Nitutâmh ("my relations"), which speaks to kinship, connection and belonging in Eeyou Istchee.
“Healing is collective. Through kinship and solidarity, we create safe spaces where relationships become sources of strength, where cultural responsiveness is honoured, and where well-being is understood holistically. Each bond, between colleagues, between leadership and staff, and between services and the people we serve, contributes to community strength” says chairperson Jeannie Pelletier.
This report is the result of an extraordinary collective effort across our organization, from frontline staff and regional teams to administrative services, with the guidance of Nishîyû. Together, they contribute every day to the well-being of our clients, their families and the communities we serve.
Storytelling and an inspired visual language brought the Communications Department's work to life, reflecting the theme: Nitutâmh: Connection, Safety and Healing. This report visually illustrates the pillars of the theme. Warm colour tones evoke the hospitality and generosity that are intrinsic to Cree communities, while line illustrations symbolize intergenerational connection.
The photography direction was intentional, capturing staff and community members immersed in their culture or role within the CBHSSJB, collaborating, engaging and uplifting one another. Throughout the design process, the priority was to centre Cree people, even through subtle design elements. The illustrations enrich static visuals, such as landscape photography, and offer a glimpse into defining moments of community life. Drawn without distinctive facial features, they invite everyone to see themselves in these shared experiences.
