Dr Darlene Kitty gives a Cultural Safety training in Halifax

Dr Darlene Kitty is a leading advocate for culturally safe care in the medical system. She gave a Cultural Safety training last week as part of the 27th Annual Rural and Remote Medicine course in Halifax, NS, attended by doctors from across Canada. Dr Kitty practices medicine in Chisasibi and she is also a Board member representing Clinical Staff, and President of the CBHSSJB Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists. Her session, "Moving Towards Cultural Safety and Reconciliation," covered cultural safety concepts and talked about the history and impact of residential schools on Indigenous peoples.
