The Commissioner of Quality of Services and Complaints, Ms. Sarah Cowboy, RN, and Assistant Commissioner Ms. Bonnie Fireman, are leading an internal review of the events, and are in contact with the family. The Commissioner acts on the client's behalf, and reports to the Board of Directors. Following the internal review, Ms. Cowboy will make recommendations to the Cree Health Board, as appropriate.

CBHSSJB Chairperson Mr. Bertie Wapachee, who was in Whapmagoostui this week, met with the family of the client and with CMC staff. He addressed the community members on local radio to address the concerns and to raise other issues affecting the community’s health and social services.

The CBHSSJB acknowledges the pain this event has caused and continues to cause to everyone involved. Due to our responsibility to protect the confidentiality of our clients, as well as the integrity of our internal quality assurance processes, we are unable to participate in, or respond to any discussions on social media.

We deeply appreciate the understanding and collaboration of our communities, as we strive together to continuously improve our services, in keeping with our shared values of kindness, respect, and commitment to excellence in quality of care.
