CBHSSJB Public Health has confirmed 1 new case of COVID-19 linked to a banquet event held in Ottawa on November 27.
The case involves a Waswanipi community member who attended the banquet. They do not currently live in Waswanipi, and are isolating outside the community.
If you attended the banquet and haven’t yet been contacted, Public Health asks that you self-isolate until your situation can be evaluated.
Contact tracing is underway for this case. People who are contacted may be asked to isolate for a longer period of time, and get tested, depending on their personal level of risk exposure.
Public Health asks all people who are contacted to answer the questions with as much detail as possible.
The Cree Nation of Waswanipi has taken further precautions to implement temporary community measures during this contact tracing investigation.
The CMC is operating on an emergency basis for the next 24 hours
The MSDC is closed
Robin’s Nest is closed
Travelling to and from the community is restricted.
