Held in Chisasibi, her home community, the event brought together leaders, health professionals, and community members to celebrate this new chapter in Cree health governance. Pelletier, a registered nurse with a background in health management and long-time employee of the CBHSSJB, takes on the role with a clear vision for the future. A central theme of her campaign was increasing transparency—an issue that community members have voiced as a key priority in recent years. In her address, she reaffirmed this commitment along with her eagerness to step into this new role for her at the Board.

“I’m committed to health equity, primary care and grassroots voices. My campaign was based on the pillars of reclaiming our path, restoring our health and rewriting our story.” – Chairperson Jeannie Pelletier

Executive Director, Daniel St-Amour, expressed his support for Pelletier on behalf of the entire organization, highlighting her firsthand experience in healthcare and her dedication to improving services.

“What I've seen in the first couple months is someone who listens quite well. That's probably one of her biggest strengths. You feel that she brings care and empathy from her nursing profession.” – Daniel St-Amour

As she steps into her new role, she is expected to focus on strengthening trust, expanding services, ensuring culturally safe care across Eeyou Istchee, and stresses the importance to focus on the work ahead. With strong community backing, Pelletier’s leadership marks a step forward in addressing the evolving health needs of the region.
