As April is upon us, the CBHSSJB takes this opportunity to recognize and honour the important contributions of our Medical Laboratory Professionals, whose work plays a vital role in supporting patient care across Eeyou Istchee.

Every day, laboratory technologists perform tests that help physicians better understand what is happening in a person’s body. These analyses provide essential information that guide diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. Although much of this work takes place behind the scenes, it plays an important role in supporting the health of our people.

In the past year, CBH laboratories performed many analyses: approximately 198,475 in Mistissini, and 438,229 in Chisasibi, demonstrating how essential laboratory services are in helping care for communities across the territory.

Working in laboratories that serve in our region, these professionals bring skill, precision, and dedication to their work daily. Their efforts help ensure that healthcare providers receive accurate and timely results, supporting the care of patients and their families.

Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is also an opportunity to encourage young people explore careers in laboratory sciences. Inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals helps ensure that our communities will continue to benefit from strong and reliable healthcare services in the years to come.

The CBHSSJB proudly acknowledges the dedication of our laboratory team and thanks them for the important role they play in supporting the health and well-being of our people and contributing to Miyupimaatisiiun – living well – in our communities.

From April 12 to 18, we invite everyone to join us in recognizing and celebrating the Medical Laboratory Professionals Week and the important contributions of our medical laboratory professionals.
