Voices from the Heart Exhibition at Nurses Annual Training

Content

Our organization is happy to bring the Voices from the Heart photo exhibition to the Nurses Annual Training happening from September 30 to October 9, 2025, in Montreal.

Developed in partnership between with the McGill University Health Centre’s Quality Improvement Office and Research Institute, and the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay Research Office, this project highlights the voices and stories of Cree patients from Eeyou Istchee.

Through the MEPA initiative (Measuring the Indigenous Patient Experience), we have an opportunity to listen directly to patients so their lived experiences can guide improvements in care.

Using the Photovoice research method, participants share photos that reflect their feelings and stories—opening space for dialogue and trust. The common goal is to better understand the Cree patient's experience to enhance the quality of care.

After being shown at the Montreal General Hospital, the Espresso Hotel, the Institut Nordique du Quebec Symposium, the Annual General Assembly in Mistissini and the CBHSSJB Board meeting in Waskaganish, this marks the sixth stop for an exhibition that celebrates Indigenous resilience, creativity, and the strength of our communities.
