Summary

There are now 521 active cases in Eeyou Istchee in the current outbreak, which began on December 22. Community transmission is still evident, even as earlier cases continue to recover.

ACTIVE CASES

 

  • 521 active cases in Eeyou Istchee.
  • 6 people have been hospitalized during the outbreak. Four remain in hospital. Two people have been discharged.
  • 366 cases have recovered.
  • 226 active cases in coastal communities
  • 295 active cases in inland communities.
  • Confirmed cases since the start of the outbreak: 887.

 

 

MEDICAL ISOLATION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Medical isolation in Eeyou Istchee is 10 days for people who test positive for Covid-19, and 10 days for people who are close contacts of a positive case.
  • People who are positive or close contacts can isolate three different ways:
    • in a household “bubble".
    • at home in a separate, closed room.
    • in a separate unit. 

 

 

Isolation instructions for people with a confirmed case of COVID-19, and people identified as close contacts who are waiting for test results. 

IF YOU TEST POSITIVE OR ARE A CLOSE CONTACT

 

People who test positive, or are a close contact to a positive case must tell their family and friends, so they can take needed measures and precautions. 

 

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR CONTACTS?

IF YOU ARE A CLOSE CONTACT

 

If you think you’re a close contact of a positive case: Assume you are positive. Take needed precautions.

  • Self-isolate for 10 days, even if you don’t have symptoms. Monitor yourself for symptoms during that time.
  • If you don’t have symptoms, please wait 3-5 days before calling for a test.
  • If you start to feel sick while you’re isolating, assume you are positive. Inform your PSO.
  • Call anyone you have had close contact with 48 hours prior to the onset of your symptoms.

 

 

PHASE 1 MEASURES IN EFFECT

 

Phase 1 measures reduce activity and social gatherings to help contain further spread of the virus and protect local health care services. 

  • No indoor or outdoor private gatherings with people who aren't members of the immediate household. 
  • Intercommunity travel within Eeyou Istchee is prohibited except for essential reasons.
  • Travel outside of Eeyou Istchee is prohibited except for essential reasons.
  • Essential local businesses remain open (such as grocery stores, gas stations, repair services).
  • Essential Services provided.
  • Childcare services are provided for Essential Service workers.
