Cree Succession: Investing in our People​

STAFFING​

  • 7 out of every 10 CBHSSJB employees is Indigenous​

  • 145 new positions have been created since 2019 (450 more to come in next 3 years)​

  • 24 Indigenous managers hired since November 2020​

  • 35 summer students hired in 2021​

EDUCATION AND TRAINING​

  • 33 graduates under the Cree Succession Leadership Framework since June 2020 (celebration December 9)​

  • 29 employees completed Attestation of College Studies in partnership with CÉGEP Marie-Victorin​

  • CSB Sabtuan Adult Education Services training for Beneficiary Attendants & Medical Secretaries​

Improving Working Conditions

  • Reclassification of CHRs to PCCRs, with salary increase​

  • Creation of an internal Resolution Office – Ron Shisheesh​

  • Telework policy and procedure​

  • Employee Satisfaction Survey​

  • Employee Recognition Program​

  • Annual Meeting with SNIIBJ-FIQ & FSSS-CSN unions​

Achievements: Quality of Care​

  • June 2021: Board Resolution in support of Joyce's Principle​

  • Improved compensation for long-term patients living outside the community​

  • Electronic Medical Record implementation ongoing (increased confidentiality)​

  • Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for employees in contact with clients ​

  • Employees who are not fully vaccinated must get tested 3 times a week​

Updating & Reforming Laws

  • Favorable response from the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec to the proposed negotiation framework​

    • Update and align with today’s reality​

    • Integrate Eenou-Eeyou cultural and spiritual values into the delivery and management of health and social services provided to our People​

    • Greater autonomy and authority over our health and social services system

  • Main focus is on 3 laws (2 provincial, 1 federal)​
    • S-5: Act respecting health and social services for Cree Native Persons​

    • Youth Protection Act (YPA)​

    • Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA)​

Addressing the Colonial Legacy of Violence​

  • Resolution adopted by the Board of Directors September 2021​

  • Chairperson to establish Terms of Reference for a joint Cree Task Force on Sexual Violence and Abuse​
