The CBHSSJB has confirmed new positive cases of COVID -19 in the community of Waskaganish. The individuals concerned are in self-isolation and monitoring their symptoms.
An investigation is underway to identify contacts, arrange testing and self-isolation. We request that members of the community cooperate with the Contact Tracing team from the Department of Public Health. If they call you, please answer their questions. By doing so, you are protecting others.
The faster we can identify people who have been exposed to the virus, the sooner this outbreak can be contained.
The Cree Nation of Waskaganish is monitoring the situation closely. Community members are advised to postpone any planned gatherings and non essential activities for the next 48 hours. People are also advised not to visit between households at this time.
We will continue to update the population as the investigation proceeds.
People who are unvaccinated are much more likely to be infected with COVID-19 and to get very sick. If you have not been vaccinated yet, please call the CMC to arrange getting your vaccine as soon as possible.
