Summary

The Pfizer vaccine will be made available for Eeyou Istchee youth ages 12 to 17. The logistics and date to begin the administration of the vaccine is being determined and will be announced in the near future.

In Quebec, the extreme measures that the Government was forced to put in place continue to pay off with cases beginning to slowly come down. The neighbouring region of Abitibi continues to do well, where local Public Health Authorities, business and local populations work hard to limit interactions with travellers from “Red Zone” regions. Even though Public Health continues to recommend that isolation is not required when travelling to Region 8 – Abitibi it is still very important that people exercise extreme caution when travelling outside of their community.

Ontario continues to struggle with unusually high numbers and unfortunately, the trend seems to be moving North in that province with Ottawa and regions of Northern Ontario seeing daily case numbers climb.

Worldwide COVID-19 cases continue to rise at an alarming rate with India about to surpass the US in cases in the coming week. The fact that cases continue to rise while countries like Canada and the US begin to stabilize shows that there is still a difficult and long road ahead.
