The Public Health Department of CBHSSJB has received confirmation from Quebec that it will receive more shipments of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as early as January 14, 2021.

The shipments will include enough doses of the Moderna vaccine to meet the first dose needs for residents
of all nine Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee.

The regional vaccination campaign in Eeyou Istchee will officially start once the doses are delivered.

  • Details about how the vaccination campaign will roll out in each community will be shared incoming days, on local radio, social media, and the Cree Health website and Facebook page.
  • COVID-19 vaccines will save lives. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine was approved in Canada in December for adults over the age of 18.
  • If you are pregnant, the vaccine is not routinely recommended at this time. Please discuss with your health care provider.
  • The vaccine is recommended for women who are currently breastfeeding.
  • Vaccination is not mandatory, but Public Health authorities in Canada and Eeyou Istchee are encouraging everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated, in order to protect themselves, and to protect the people around them.
