MHU Training
From September 22 to 25, 2025, a training is planned to build towards a competent workforce for the Mobile Health Unit. Participants will gain hands-on experience and essential knowledge that will prepare them to support Eeyou Istchee during emergencies.
The training will equip the workforce with the skills to safely and efficiently set up and take down the Mobile Health Unit, in addition to installing a trauma unit and understanding the key roles and responsibilities of each team member during operations.

We are looking for professionals in maintenance, primary care, psychosocial fields, administration, etc. The profiles we are looking to recruit include:
- interest in being deployed in remote areas during emergencies;
- ability to work during emergency times;
- comfortable living in temporary set-ups during missions; and
- proficiency in teamwork and collaboration.
This is an opportunity to take part in one of the CBHSSJB’s most innovative initiatives, bringing essential healthcare to remote communities in Eeyou Istchee.

A roster of trained personnel will be maintained and called upon should the MHU need deployment.
If the deployment occurs in their community, they will be the first choice to assist. Afterwards, individuals in nearby communities will be contacted.
Examples of non-clinical roles include:
· Site set-up crew members
· Supply chain coordinators
· Transport coordinators for equipment, personnel and patients
· IT technicians
· Utilities technicians for generators and electrical equipment
· Waste management personnel and water supplies
· Health and safety officers
· Security personnel
· HR for deployment personnel and schedule management
· Administrative personnel for patient registration
· Purchasing agents
· Record keeping
· Food service
· Housekeeping workers
· Community Liaisons
· Communications
For the September training, you will spend most of your time in regular classrooms and outdoors. You may have to share your sleeping space and have limited access to hygiene facilities.
During an emergency deployment, you may have to live and work in emergency conditions, including unusual work locations, limited supplies, shared sleeping spaces, limited hygiene facilities, basic meals, long shifts, limited comfort and in all weather conditions, for the duration of the deployment.
